Undergraduate degrees
We have two full time and one part time undergraduate degree courses.
> BSc.(Honours) Degree in Computer Science

This programme aims to prepare graduates to function as software application
developers in commercial and industrial environments and to equip them
with a wide and educationally sound foundation which will give them
the flexibility needed in an industry which is constantly changing.
Students spend the first two years gaining a firm foundation and understanding
of object-oriented programming, internet technologies, mathematics,
operating systems and basic hardware. Thereafter, students choose one
of three main routes — Software Development and Internet Systems;
Computer Systems Architecture & Administration; Data & Knowledge
Management — which are developed over the next two years. More

> BSc. (Honours) Degree in Computing
> Course Code: DT211, Duration: 4 Years full time
The main aim of the programme is to produce graduates with the necessary
skills to function as IT developers and network and system support staff
in a broad range of commercial and industrial environments. The focus
of the programme is to enable the graduate to apply networked solutions
in organisational IT environments. To this end, the student needs to
have an in-depth knowledge of network theory and practice and a solid
understanding of software engineering and IT practices, with an emphasis
on intranet applications and configuration. In the third and fourth
stages of the programme, some of the students may be accepted into an
internship pathway, involving two days per week paid internship in industry.
ICT Ireland, the representative body for the Information and Communications
Technology sector and the Higher Education Authority (HEA) have sponsored
an internship programme that is aimed at addressing the problem of the
growing shortage of students graduating in ICT programmes. Find out

> BSc (Honours) , BSc (Ordinary) , (Higher Certificate) in Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/IT)
> Course Code: DT249, Duration: Part time
The programme is aimed at individuals who are or wish to become professionals
in the IS/IT industry. The industry has many and varied career paths.
Graduate of the programme will be equipped with the skills necessary
to function as an IS/IT professional in a broad range of environments.

> M.Sc in Computing (Assistive Technology)

The School of Computing is offering an exciting new Masters whose focus is on the areas of Assistive Technology and Universal Design. For most people, technology can make life easier, expanding life’s choices and opportunities. For people with disabilities, however, technology makes possible daily activities that were previously impossible. Assistive technologies (AT) have a central role to play in equalising opportunities for people with disabilities in all aspects of life.
This Masters is designed to provide a broad background in the area of assistive technology with special focus on the principles of Universal Design.
