Cisco Networking Equipment in use in School of Computing

As of June 2005, the School of Computing at DIT is a Cisco Local Academy authorised to deliver Cisco training courses including those leading to the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) qualification.

Materials from Cisco CCNA modules 1 to 4 are delivered as part of the BSc in Computing (DT211) course at the school.

In addition to providing students with laptops and cabling one of our labs (A.308) to support this course, the school has purchased Cisco networking equipment to ensure that our students have access to state of the art, industrial quality networking equipment.

The equipment comprises 14 Cisco Routers and 6 Cisco Catalyst network switches as follows:

Description Quantity Network Interfaces
Cisco 2811 Router 4 2 * Fast Ethernet
2 * Serial WAN
Cisco 2801 Router 8 2 * Fast Ethernet

Cisco 3640 Router 2 5 * Serial WAN

Some of this equipment is installed in a wheeled flight case custom made for us by Dublin Flight Case Company.

Here are some pictures showing the flight case with 2 * 2811 Routers (top), 4 * 2801 Routers, 3 * Catalyst Switches and 2 * 3640 Routers
