Description

This course provides an introduction to issues relating to the integration of diverse computer systems in a modern networking environment. The course focuses on integration of key services including Authentication, Authorization, Accounting, Naming Services, Storage, Printing and the Integration of access to Database Servers from diverse platforms. The module is structured to cover both theory and practical experience of Systems Integration Issues.


Aims

To provide the learner with a working knowledge of and practical experience of the installation and configuration of software systems to integrate diverse computer applications running on a range of platforms.


Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module, the student will be able to describe and configure the software systems available for integration of diverse computer systems.


Learning and Teaching Methods

Lectures, self-study, labs, tutorials, and any combination of discussion, case study, problem-solving exercises, readings, seminars, and computer-based learning.

Assessment

The methods of assessment to be used to measure the learning objectives stated above are written examination and continuous assessment including one or more of assignment, essay, problem-solving exercise, oral presentation, and class or lab tests.
