What are the entry requirements for the programme?
The minimum entry requirements are the Irish Leaving Certificate with a grade D3 or higher in six subjects at ordinary level including
- a grade C3 or higher in ordinary level Mathematics or a grade D3 or higher in higher level Mathematics,
- English or Irish at either level,
- a grade C3 or higher in at least 2 subjects at higher level.
What programming languages are covered on the course
Currently in first year students learn C programming, in second year, C++ programming and in third year, Java programming.
Can international students apply for this programme?
Yes, DIT welcomes applications from international students. Check out the international students section of the DIT website for more information on applying.
Is it possible to apply for entry into second, third or fourth year of the programme?
Yes, applicants who have a relevant qualification, such as a Certificate or a Diploma in a computer related area can apply for advanced entry into subsequent years of the programme. Students who have successfully completed one or more years of a computer related course are also eligible to apply for advanced entry to this programme. Advanced entry application forms are available from the Admissions office or on the Admissions section of the DIT website. Application forms are normally submitted directly to the Admissions office. However, if the end date has passed and depending on whether places exist in subsequent years of the programme, forms may be accepted directly by the School of Computing.
Does the programme accept mature students?
Yes, we usually have a number of mature students on the programme. There is a Mature Student Coordinator assigned within the School of Computing and they are available to assist mature students with any difficultlies they may encounter.
