We have provisionally organised a number of exciting social events for conference attendees to enjoy while stayng in Dublin. These events are included in the conference registration fee (unless otherwise indicated): XBOX 360 Pre-conference LAN Party - Tuesday 21st November XBOX 360 Pre-conference LAN Party This will be held the Dublin XBOX Live Gaming Centre.
The conference banquet will be held in the Erin Room in Dublin Castle, a short walk from the conference venue on Wednesday 22nd November. The menu for the conference banquet is now available. Any delegates who wish to avail of the vegetarian option must notify Bryan Duggan before the 17th November. Most of the current Dublin Castle building was constructed in the eighteenth centaury, though a castle has stood on the site since the twelfth centaury. Dublin Castle is the site where the president of Ireland was inaugurated for much of the twentieth centaury.
A ceili is a traditional social dance in Ireland. The ceili will give attendees a chance to enjoy traditional Irish music and culture and to relax and meet other attendees in a social context. The ceili will feature an experienced bean an tí, (set caller), who will instruct participants in how to dance sets. There will also be experienced dancers on hand to provide demonstrations. Live music will be provided by top local musicians. We would like to thank the DIT Oifig na Gaeilge (Irish Language Office) for their sponsorship of this event.
Join us for a fun and completely unique tour of Dublin by land and water in reconditioned World War II vintage amphibious militaryvehicles called "Ducks". The costumed and colourful Viking Tour Captains will tell you all about the most exciting sights in Dublin: how the Vikings first settled the City over 1000 years ago and how Dublin has become a thriving, cosmopolitan European city. Finally, you’ll experience a real thrill as the Tour Captain drives the Duck into the waters of the historic Grand Canal Basin for the water portion of the tour.
