Bing Wu received a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the National University of Defence Technology, China in 1982 and 1985, respectively. He received a Ph.D. in the Computation Department of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK in 1996.
After the Ph.D. study, he worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) from 1996 to 1998. On November 1998, he joined the Computer Science Department of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), performing duties of teaching, supervising, researching and course administration work since then. He is currently the Head of the Computer Science Department within the School of Computing.
His research interests
include Knowledge representation, management, discovery and
utilisation for multi-dimension data and information; Applications of modern
database systems, particularly with active and temporal mechanisms, together
with, artificial intelligence, data mining and analysis technologies with
primary application domains focusing on Healthcare informatics and
Bio-informatics; Information system engineering and re-engineering, and legacy
system migrations; E-learning and Educational issues relevant to computing and
software industries.
His main recreations include swimming and fishing. He also loves reading and listening to the classical music.
