The DIT AI Group was founded in 2007 by staff members at DIT and brings together their diverse research interests. Broadly categorised under artificial intelligence, these interests cover areas such as machine learning, robotics, intelligent virtual agents, computational linguistics, data mining, and text mining. The group performs both fundamental and applied research in these areas, and is engaged in commercialisation activity. The projects undertaken by the group  are funded by SFI, the HEA and other funding schemes, and the group has an active postgraduate student body.
